Late 2015, Grace Landscapes Ltd completed the soft landscaping at 6 Wellington Place in the heart of Leeds. This being a part of the city’s newest open space, Tower Square, and offering an oasis of calm at the heart of the city.
The works had to be carefully programmed to co-ordinate with the paving and resin bound gravel contractors, with extra care being taken not to cause any damage with the machinery needed to transport the topsoil and semi-mature trees to position. For instant impact and to encourage wildlife to the area wildflower and species rich turf from Wildflower Turf Ltd was laid by Grace’s trained and approved installers.  Some 3000 grasses, shrub, herbaceous and hedging plants, 1000 spring flowering bulbs and 20 semi-mature trees for height finished off the scheme in December 2015, just in time for Christmas.
The calm was short lived as the site was under water in the Boxing Day floods and it was well into January before the damage could be assessed.  Amazingly, only a small area of bark mulch had floated away with the receding water, leaving the rest of the scheme standing up well to the disruption.
