Over the past two years we have been involved in helping Kirkwood Hospice apply for funding and re landscaping the grounds to their new Inpatient unit, completed in August 2013. The existing garden has been improved whilst keeping many of the existing features. A new decking area outside the rooms has been partitioned with timber planters to provide privacy for the patients to enjoy the view to the garden. A resin bound path and labyrinth allows both wheel chairs and beds access to the entire grounds, including down to the pond and over the bridge. Part of the path consists of paving constructed from memorial blocks to commemorate loved ones. We hope that the gardens will provide a peaceful and restful area to be enjoyed by many.
“The whole Grace team have been a pleasure to work with and extremely hard working….They have been sensitive to our site and taken great pride in the end result – which is a beautiful garden for patients, families, staff and volunteers to enjoy. Thank you all so much” – Hilary Turner Kirkwood Hospice
